The needle roller and cage assembly is one of the key components of the bearing.

Structural features

Needle roller:The needle roller is a slender cylindrical roller with a relatively large ratio of length to diameter, usually between 3 and 10. This special shape design allows the needle roller to place more rolling elements in the same space, thus increasing the bearing's load-bearing capacity.

Cage:The material of the cage is generally metal (such as steel plate) and non-metal (such as nylon). The function of the cage is to evenly separate the needle rollers to prevent mutual extrusion and friction between the needles, and to ensure the stability and order of the needle rollers during the working process. The cage is usually designed with grooves or holes to guide the movement of the needle rollers.

Working principle

Due to the linear contact between the needle roller and the raceway, the contact area is relatively small, so under the same load, the contact stress is large. However, due to the large number of needle rollers, the load can be shared, so that the whole bearing can bear a large radial load.

The function of the cage:The cage not only separates the needle rollers during the operation of the bearing, but also guides the rolling direction of the needle rollers so that they always move along the raceway. At the same time, the cage can also reduce the friction resistance between the needle rollers and the raceway, reduce energy loss and heat generation, and improve the efficiency and service life of the bearing.

Application field

Car transmission:In automotive transmissions, needle roller and cage assemblies are often used to support the gear shaft. Due to the limited internal space of the transmission, it is necessary to withstand large changes in speed and load. The compact structure and high load-bearing capacity of the needle roller and cage assemblies can meet these requirements.
